Making services accessible, accessibly - Andrew Hick (GDS)
Andrew talks through the accessibility of real life services he’s encountered with examples of what good - and bad - look like, red flags to avoid and why it can't “just be fixed with AI”.

He'll then talk about the most important factors to build accessibility into services from the start, decoding the accessibility guidelines in relation to service design and filling some gaps those guidelines don’t cover well.

About the speaker
Andrew is a Senior Accessibility Specialist in the accessibility monitoring team at the UK Government Digital Service, with a background in quality assurance and testing. He loves to demystify accessibility and help the public sector raise its standards. He also enjoys art and design, especially when this intersects with digital accessibility.

It’s time to rethink your approach to prototyping - Chloe Langan & Sam Stevens (CXPartners)

Prototyping is a designer’s old friend. But organisations aren’t benefiting from it as much as they could. We’d like designers, researchers and product owners to get excited about prototyping again, by helping them feel energised to try out new prototyping techniques and empowered to help their organisations embrace prototyping too.

In this talk we will;

  • Share examples of prototypes that break the stereotypical mould
  • Show you how to convince decision-makers to invest in rapid prototyping

  • Explain the tangible steps to take that’ll make your prototyping more impactful

Takeaways:

  • A renewed idea and energy in prototyping and how they can use it
  • Inspiration and ideas for new ways to prototype
  • Techniques to overcome common barriers when introducing a new way of working
  • Clear ways to take prototyping to the next level in your organisation
