To get to know Tobe and hear about his career so far, we asked him some questions about his views on technology and what inspires him every day.

Interviewer: Hi Tobe. Welcome to the ServiceNow practice here at Sopra Steria. It’s great to see your career progression within the company. Why don’t you start by giving me a bit of background to your career. Where did you start out? What has been your career path so far?

Tobe Nwosu: It’s great to be here! Initially I come from an environmental science and management background with a master’s degree in environmental management. Prior to joining Sopra Steria, I started out as a Stack Emissions Technician for two and half years working in the air emissions field. During this time, I started to pick up an interest in the tech industry and decided to enrol in a 10-week intensive Software Development bootcamp, where I developed a whole range of technical skills. After the bootcamp, I started searching for a job in the tech industry and I was eventually hired by Sopra Steria to be part of the Accelerated Digital Career Academy.

Interviewer: It’s interesting to hear how you developed your interest in technology. Tell us a bit about why you’ve chosen ServiceNow for the next step in your career?

Tobe: ServiceNow was first introduced to me by my ADCA manager and it caught my interest. I decided to do some extensive research on ServiceNow and discovered the vast potential it has as a cloud-based platform for automating multiple management workflows in enterprises. This definitely piqued my interest for it. Coupled with this, was the fact that ServiceNow offered a low to no code approach to automating such workflows making it a very time efficient and simple way of doing complex actions. Now, one and a half years into learning and developing on the platform it was one the of the best career decisions I have made, and I am happy to be part of this practice.

Interviewer: Your interest in the ServiceNow platform shines through. What are some examples of where it can make a big impact?

Tobe: ServiceNow as an emerging technology can make a positive different to peoples lives as it makes processes a lot easier to configure and less time consuming. For example, the automation of repetitive and mundane tasks such as, IT service management and HR processes allows employees to focus on higher value work, which in turn can lead to increased productivity and efficiency in the workplace.

Interviewer: You’ve talked us through your career and your journey with Sopra Steria so far, but who do you take as your inspiration? Who has changed the way you think about the future?

Tobe: I would say my parents are my real inspiration. They have always been an integral and important part of my decision making in life. They have always given the best advice in terms of what career pathways they know I would excel in. My mom especially has always been supportive of my career aspirations and has always been there to offer her guidance on what career would be the best for me in the future. Technology was a major factor in my decisions, and mom has always supported me throughout my journey and continues to do so. One piece of advice she’s given me is to always look out for the next best thing and try to learn it. I have found that ServiceNow is that next best thing, I couldn’t be happier.
