Sopra Steria today announced the appointment of Michael Lightfoot to the position of Director of Pensions where he will drive the direction and strategy of its pension services.
In this role he will focus primarily on developing Sopra Steria’s next generation member services, supporting strategic opportunities and strengthening Sopra Steria and its Joint Ventures (SSCL and NHS SBS) current position, helping it expand into broader sectors.
Michael joins the team from Aquila Heywood, one of the largest providers of life, pension and investment software systems in the UK and Ireland where he was the Group Business Development Director.
During his tenure he was responsible for developing propositions to serve the market across public sector, financial service, enterprise, systems integrator and independent software vendor channels, as well as building out bespoke solutions.
He increased revenues through development of new engagement strategies that underpinned the enterprise value of the business in preparation for a corporate transaction. In addition, Michael developed a close working relationship and influence
across government and industry for the Pensions Dashboard initiative.
He has over 18 years’ experience in strategic alliance, business development and product innovation roles across EMEA and North America for businesses including GMC Software, Microsoft, Multimap and Virgin Media. He also has a proven track record
of establishing new markets and delivering new revenue streams.
Michael’s appointment will support Sopra Steria and its Joint Ventures continued work to bolster its pension services by introducing an innovative and transformational defined benefits pension administration service. This will revolutionise
the member experience, aimed at bringing the pension into an effortless part of everyday life.
The service will also revolutionise the role of the employer, reducing the burden of administration and data management across organisations.
We’re extremely excited to welcome Michael into our Sopra Steria family. His extensive experience in business development, strategy and life, pension and investment software systems perfectly complements our newly defined pension services which, under his watchful eye will provide our customers with the strongest services on the market.
Paul Sellick, Head of Public Sector Sales, Sopra Steria
I’m delighted to be joining the ambitious and forward-thinking teams at Sopra Steria and Joint Ventures. Not only are the teams setting the standard in HR, pension and administration services but its new direction will truly deliver the evolution
the industry requires.
Michael Lightfoot, Director of Pensions, Sopra Steria and SSCL
