Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do, as we harness innovation to drive positive change.

Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing humanity. In alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, our strategy ensures that our businesses use our digital innovation expertise to address the most pressing sustainability issues, so that together we can create a positive difference in the areas where it is needed most.

We’re proud to have been recognised as a world class leader in managing our impact on climate change and addressing wider environmental issues. EcoVadis awarded Sopra Steria a platinum rating, recognising our performance against 21 social, ethical, environmental and supply chain criteria, placing us within the top 1% of global companies. For the seventh consecutive year, CDP rewards Sopra Steria for its action in the fight against climate change. We’re also ranked 7th (out of 400 companies) in The Financial Times European Climate Leaders List.

In embedding sustainability principles and practices, we are creating more value for our clients, contributing to the sustainability of the economy, helping to sustain our communities and engaging our employees every step of the way. Our core pillars of sustainability cover the following areas:

Committed to achieving Net Zero by 2040

Our target to achieve Net Zero by 2040 has been approved by the Science Based Target initiatives (SBTi). The SBTi Net Zero Standard is the only framework that aligns net zero target setting with climate science. Achieving this requires us to work together with our customers, employees, suppliers and other stakeholders who share our values and vision to shape a healthier planet. This includes empowering everyone through developing systems, tools and technologies that allow us to collaborate and innovate across our business to accelerate our transition to net zero.

Reducing our energy consumption

As part of our commitment to shaping our world for the better we have committed to reducing our energy consumption. The cost of living and energy crisis provided a stark realisation that transitioning to net zero creates opportunities for both people and the planet. However, there’s so much more to reducing energy consumption than just what we use in our offices. As an I.T. company we accept our responsibility in managing the growth in demand for digital services in a sustainable way.

Establishing Zero waste

We reduce, reuse and recycle. This helps us decrease the natural resources we use and the emissions we produce, while conserving energy and landfill space. Our zero-waste-to-landfill and single-use plastic campaigns ensure that our company and our employees are aware of the importance of waste disposal and the effects that it has on the environment. In 2022, Sopra Steria reused or recycled 99.5% of its electronic waste.

Life at Sopra Steria

Getting to net zero by 2040 in a credible way is really important to us at Sopra Steria. That’s why we have committed to the SBTi Net-Zero Standard and making deep reductions in our GHG emissions.

Climate change impacts people as well as the planet. Sustainability is a precondition for net zero.

That’s why our strategy addresses climate action as well as wider environmental sustainability issues. We recognise we can’t get to net zero alone. Hence, engagement and collaborations sits at the heart of our strategy.
